About the Coronavirus (COVID-19) DirectionFinder® Survey
What Is ETC Institute?
During the past two decades, ETC Institute has conducted community, business, and employee surveys for nearly 1,000 governmental and non-profit organizations. More than 2,000,000 residents from all 50 states have participated in surveys sponsored by ETC Institute since 2005. The firm specializes in helping local and state governments gather and use input from the public to make better decisions.
When Did This Survey Start? and Why Is It Being Done?
ETC Institute began tracking the impact that Coronavirus (COVID-19) is having on attitudes and behaviors of U.S. residents on March 12. Since most of ETC Institute’s clients are state and local governments, this survey was developed as a tool to help state and local leaders track their results against national trends.
Who Is Participating in the Survey?
The survey is being administered to a random sample of 100-150 U.S. residents daily. The results are posted to this dashboard every four days so our partners nationwide can see how the results are changing over time. The results for each date contain the responses from at least 500 U.S. residents who were surveyed during the previous four days. For example, the results for March 15 contain responses from 534 residents who were surveyed on March 12-15, 2020. The results for March 19 contain the results for 553 residents who were surveyed on March 16-19, 2020.
How Accurate Are the Results?
The results for each date have a precision of at least +/-4.5% at the 95% level of confidence.
How Can I Get Results for My State or Community?
If you are interested in getting the results for a particular state or community, please contact Jason Jones at [email protected]. ETC Institute can administer the survey to a statistically valid sample of residents and deliver the results in just 2-3 days. ETC Institute can also build a dashboard like the one on our website that compares local data to state and national results. Mr. Jones can provide pricing information upon request.
